Risk Management Training Course | One-Day
Aimed at leaders working in EOTC, outdoor education, and tourism, this course takes the challenge out of safety-related paperwork. Completing this course provides peace of mind that teams are current with Health and Safety good practice and processes.
The one-day Risk Management Training (RMT) course will provide participants with:
- A systematic approach to identifying and managing risk in their EOTC programmes
- A further understanding of risk management principles
- Methods of evaluating and aligning programme risk with legislative and societal expectations
- Techniques for effective crisis resolution

River Crossing Course | One-Day
This one-day course is aimed at keen hunters and trampers looking to learn, expand, or refresh their knowledge of river crossing and travelling in rivers or waterways.
This course covers, but is not limited to:
- River hydrology
- Hazard identification and management
- Safe decision making
- Current good practice techniques
- Group, and self, rescue techniques

Weather Course | 3-Session Night Class
Join us in the classroom for this three session night-class, aimed at people who recreationally, or commercially, undertake outdoor adventurous activities and want to learn, expand, or refresh their knowledge of New Zealand weather, where it comes from, and what it all means.
This course covers, but is not limited to:
- Global weather
- NZ weather
- Charts and maps
- Clouds and lifting air
- Forecasting while out of “coverage”

This one-day course is aimed at keen hunters, trampers, or adventure racers looking to learn, expand, or refresh their knowledge of navigation. Novice or expert? Our qualified team can modify the course to suit your experience level.
This course covers, but is not limited to:
- Using navigation aids, including compass and GPS device
- Topographic map use
- Navigation on-track, and off-track in challenging terrain
- Timings, and pacing distance

Sea Kayaking Course | One-Day
This one-day course is aimed at sea kayak owners or groups who use closed-cockpit sea kayaks on fresh or saltwater, who are wanting to learn, expand, or refresh their knowledge of sea kayaking and associated skills or be motivated to travel to further remote places with greater understanding of techniques and equipment.
This course covers, but is not limited to:
- Effective paddle strokes
- Railed turns and rudder/skeg use
- Current equipment for safety
- Self and group rescue
- Simple and safe towing methods
- Basics of weather, tides, navigation and charts as they apply to sea-kayaking.
